Trying Out the Opera Browser

How effective is word-of-mouth marketing? If you are a blogger I guess you would naturally say that it is damn way too effective. :)
A friend showed me the Opera web browser on his laptop and professed how very fast it is compared to Firefox and Internet Explorer. I did not pay much attention to his sales talk because I am a Firefox lover, having been IE-free for more than a year already. And I'm not just about to try another browser.
But I've been encountering some reviews both from bloggers and respected tech sites claiming that Opera is indeed fast and should definitely be worth a try.
Well, I have to be honest that when it comes to technology like this, I can quite easily be persuaded. So here I am trying out Opera and I'm even using it as I'm making my usual round on my Entrecard dashboard.
All I can say is, I'm very much impressed! So far I can tell that it is faster than Firefox and IE (everything's faster than IE as some would say) and Opera has a nice clean interface. What I like most so far is its Notes function which lets me easily take well, notes, as I browse along.
I'll give Opera a shot for the next few days but so far I am still a Firefox user. :)
depending on what you are looking for, Google Chrome is great. By far the fasted browser out there, it just does not have all the add-ons that FF does. I'm commenting using Opera, but Chrome is my browser of preference.
example where I need FF, I wanted to stumble your post, so I opened FF to do it.
Though I do like the Opera interface, it is quite lacking in terms of plug-ins in which FF has become king. I've tried the older versions and the new one, but I still come back to FF. I even tried Chrome, and though it is indeed a fast and streamlined experience, I still come back to FF (no offense, Richard). In the end, it is still a matter of preference.
By the way, try the Opera widgets while you're at it. I think that's their answer to FF's plug-ins.
Thanks guys for the comments.
@Richard
I still have to try Chrome. After using Opera for a few days, Chrome will be the next.
@shadoweaver
I'm not really interested with Opera's widgets. When it comes to plug-ins and add-ons, I'd still go with Firefox.
I'm using Opera for two months now. I've been having trouble using FF ( http://onlyinsilence.com/2008/09/18/i-was-having-fun-until/ ), but I still come back to it because of some websites that I bookmarked. I don't have a prob with Opera as of now ;o)
